So, I started a sketch but then put it aside when I saw the beauty and inspiration of Saturday’s snow storm. The biggest challenge for me with this piece was that the colors needed to be muted. I like contrast in my work…but I had to fight against that with this painting. Truth be told, the trees are darker than they should be, but I couldn’t bring myself to go any lighter! Nonetheless, it was very fun to work on this as the snow fell before me! And you will notice the accidentally ripped paper in the upper right corner. My old self NEVER would have begun a painting on that without first making it perfect. And I would have masked the borders so the edges would be perfectly smooth. Baby steps!
These trees stand on the far corner of our property out by the road and were beckoning to be captured in a painting. I don’t think I’ll look at them the same again after bonding like we have. Smile.

Great job at capturing God’s beauty we so often overlook in our busyness!

I am so impressed; first, by the lovely painting, and second, by your commitment!! I don’t know which inspires me more.
I know I told you that I am taking a class on Monday nights on abstract painting. Michele, it is not coming together for me…I am not good at it. haha. I produced one good painting (the dancing, red lady) so far. The rest are throw aways. I will keep at it a bit longer…just because.

Simply beautiful!
Love your words “More expression and less perfection.” I am following your lead.
