“The Purity of Watercolor”

Description

Because watercolors are a transparent medium, I employ some unorthodox practices in my work to create its dark hues and rich tones.  I layer and layer the paint which ends up hiding the raw and unique beauty of their transparency.  Unfortunately, keeping watercolors “pure” and allowing them to shine just the way they are isn’t easy for me.  So, when I created this piece, my goal was to keep myself from manipulating the medium to become what it is not.  Ahh, so hard for this artist to do!
