“Little Mother”

Description

“Little Mother” is a painting I began during one of my many trips to El Salvador for missions and humanitarian work.  The piece depicts a young girl who is caring for her little brother, which is a common sight there in the streets and neighborhoods.  But in such a culture, there is an inner strength that cannot go unnoticed as siblings show love and care that they themselves have often not been shown.  It reminds me that we each have the power to overcome our past and change our future…as well as the futures of those around us.
